Maya | Lake Nona Newborn Baby Photographer

You may remember the birth I recently photographed.  Baby Maya is my great niece.  She came in for some newborn portraits and she was an ANGEL!  Well besides all of the accidents.  She saved most of them for mom and dad at the end! (A huge thank you my niece who assisted me.  You were awesome, Ash!)  I have SO MANY favorites.  I’m sure part of that is due to how much I love her 🙂  I love it when my parents get comfortable in my studio.  At one point both parents were sleeping.  I love that for 3 reasons: 1) They need the rest. 2) They trust me. 3) Some of the images will be a surprise.  We just kept playing until they woke up to do parent pictures.  Those parent pictures are some of my all time favorites.  I know my mom (a first time great grandma) is waiting to see these so here goes!

It’s always encouraging when clients find me through an internet search.  I love meeting new clients!  This couple was sooo sweet and so excited for their little boy to arrive (and he happened to arrive today).  Momma was 35 weeks here which is just crazy.  She looks amazing!

Welcome to the World | Orlando Florida Birth Photographer

Where do I begin?  I have been wanting to photograph a birth for a while now.  I finally got up the nerve to ask a couple people I know if they would allow me to document their birth experience.  My first prospect fell through due to an early birth around the holidays and I was so disappointed.  I quickly asked my nephew and his wife if I could attend their baby’s birth.  Once they googled ‘birth photography’ and figured out what it entailed they were all for it.  I thought I was going to miss this one since she was induced the evening of New Year’s Eve, but she was still laboring the next morning so I drove the hour and a half to be there.  And funny enough, I still almost missed it!  These births can be tricky as I’ve already learned.  When I arrived, mom was resting so I went to the waiting room to talk to their parents.  Twenty minutes later I returned to find her PUSHING!  I nearly panicked.  I stood next to a nurse and pointed at my camera laying on the table across the room and asked if I could go grab it.  Three sets of pushes later and the baby was out.  So, there are no early labor pictures, but I think the after stuff is the best anyway.  It was super special to have my first birth be the baby that makes me a Great Aunt.  I promise, I’m not that old!  I makes me feel a tad old though… ha!  I’m definitely hooked and want to do more 🙂  Congratulations to the lucky parents and I cannot wait to snuggle that baby this week during her newborn session!

Happy New Year! | Orlando Florida Photographer

Well, my second year is in the books!  This is year I put myself out there a bit more since I had both kids in school starting in September and had a bit more free time.  It was a pretty busy fall and I loved it.  I’m so excited for what 2013 will bring with this little business.  It’s already started with a bang as I photographed my first birth on New Year’s Day!  More details on that soon.  I’d really love to photograph more newborns so send those pregnant mamas my way!  Here are some favorites from 2012 🙂
