2015 couldn’t have ended in a better way. The Saturday (6 days) before Christmas I was contacted by a couple who was traveling to Florida to adopt a newborn girl with Down Syndrome. That’s pretty much all I knew, but I knew then that I wanted to gift this session to the couple. They were making a choice to adopt a special needs baby and that’s actually what they set out to do, to adopt a baby or child who might be harder to adopt. We scheduled the session for Tuesday. They met sweet Eliza on Monday and then came to me on Tuesday. She was 3 weeks old by this time. She was wiiiide awake for a while so I got to capture those sweet almond shaped eyes. What I later learned is that this couple has two boys at home, a 5 year old adopted from Nigeria and a 2 year old they created. Eliza would be baby #3 and then they are also due with #4 in April! This couple had to make the decision to leave their boys right before Christmas to bring this baby girl home. They were in Florida over Christmas, but by the grace of God their paperwork was completed with lightning speed and they were given the green light to go home just 7 days after meeting her. I feel so blessed to have had a teeny tiny part in what is already such a beautiful story.
